![]() ![]() The screen now shows all messages as white on black instead of black on white, and is therefore much easier on the eye, and the design of the panel controls has also changed. ![]() The pads themselves were a feature on the original Maschine but they have been improved upon with tight velocity sensitivity, making them a bit more human and expressive. It’s a simple operation to change the colour of scenes and patterns in the software, which is then reflected on the controller itself – an big improvement for those who want to use the Maschine Mk2 on dimly lit live stages. The 16 performance pads and the group pads have coloured backlighting which help you know which elements of your music you are working with. In addition to the software upgrades, there have been some marked improvements in the hardware itself. It’s a useful tool for placing sounds once you get to the mix stage. The latest software also includes Transient Master, a dynamic effect that gives you control over the attack of your sounds, allowing you to soften harsh noises or make others sound more crisp and tight. This can all be done without looking at your computer screen, as now there is an improved raised double screen on the hardware, organised in a logical and simple fashion. The pitch shift feature allows you to tune your samples and loops – this is very handy for manipulating difficult samples that incorporate pitched instruments, or for those with a preference for tuning individual drums so they all play more or less in key. This operation is facilitated by auto BPM detection, and workks very well on testing, stretching a loop from 110 BPM to 120 BPM didn’t bring up any unpleasant glitches. Perhaps the most welcome new features are the time stretch and pitch shift capabilities, which allow you to change your loops and samples from one BPM to another. “Perhaps the most welcome new features are the time stretch and pitch shift capabilities, which allow you to change your loops and samples from one BPM to another”Īnyone who has used DJ controllers in the past will know that the hardware is only as good as the software it controls, and Native Instruments have been gradually improving their software via a series of updates – they’ve now reached version 1.8. Delving into the new software will be a breeze for those already familiar with the original Maschine as it resembles its predecessor closely. The last time the Maschine had such a major overhaul was with the development and release of the Maschine Mikro at the end of 2011, which was a smaller and more compact version of the original (reviewed here at Juno Plus here earlier this year). ![]() It features high quality performance pads for triggering your sounds or launching scenes, loops and patterns without fuss and in a manner that lends itself to those “on the fly” performance choices that can add so much magic in a live environment. Its tough build quality and fast workflow lends itself to live performances – although it still needs to be hooked up to a laptop. But it isn’t just a tool for the studio – it has been designed to help the user get away from the computer and into a more organic and creative head space. Now, with the Maschine Mk2, how exactly have they improved upon the original?įor those unfamiliar with the Maschine production studio, it’s essentially a traditional drum machine backed by powerful sequencing and production software with an extensive sound library filled with top of the line samples. Do you want a large gunship that's great for protecting larger targets and performing patrols with a wing of fighters? Or would you rather bear the responsibility of what amounts to a mobile base/torpedo launcher that usually spearheads assaults against much larger ships? ![]() This would make the Polaris a vital asset in large-scale Imperium ops. Also, one area that the Polaris excels over the Hammerhead is the potential to cause serious damage against capital ships because it carries the biggest torpedoes in the game. It has a hangar bay so you can ferry supplies, loot and people as well as providing space for repair/resupply of your fighters. The Polaris imo is more of a mobile base. The Hammerhead is great for coordinated anti-fighter patrols and would be a worthy ship in a fleet that is protecting a large, vulnerable ship like the Endeavour or Hull-E. what you expect from the game and how you plan to play it. The decision really comes down to you i.e. I know both can be useful and missions can found that benefit having one or multiple of them in it. I guess really what I'm asking is I like to bring something to the table that would be useful in more of a variety if I so choose to go beyond my main focus of combat. which means I'll have an easier time buying the Hammerhead down the road. One more thing that made me keep the Polaris: in the PU the Polaris will probably cost exponentially more than the Hammerhead. ![]() If you don't mind freezing some money, you could buy the upgrade and let it dormant or melt the Hammerhead and stock a buyback token. If you want to do something else on top of fighting ( like exploring) or plan to engage caps the Polaris will be better ( I know a good part of why I kept my Polaris is the hangar). If you plan on pure escort/combat I'd stick with the Hammerhead ( remember the pilot has no gun to fire afaik) since it will be a superb platform for fighting against 90% of what pirates/'duul riaders can throw at you. I believe your dilemma is very common these days. I figured maintenance cost would be a large factor, bigger ship bigger target, high risk factor. ![]() The Polaris seems to have that more multi-function beyond its roll as a heavy hitter for larger ships, having a larger storage capacity, can carry a small ship, has a medium to close range fighter screen also, room for more sub-systems. The Hammerhead I see for escort, fleet guard/shield, fighter screen or could use as a small command with a group of fighters. I know I want to gear towards combat at first and both have roles at which they excel at in. ![]() I have been giving thought into melting my hammerhead for the Polaris. For me, the Hammerhead is a very specialized (and overpriced) ship with a very strong but also very limited role. Large components.Īs you say, they both excel in their roles but I doubt that the Hamerhead will excel in supporting a fighter screen as well as the Polaris. The Polaris is a captial the Hammerhead is not, so Capital components vs. By the introduction of the Hammerhead I think its even more important than before not just to bring a bunch of fighters to every mission but also some torps. How exactly do you think the Hammerhead is of use for a fighter screen? It does not have a landing pad to refuel/rearm fighters and almost all fighters have a very little range compared to the Hammerhead. The mansion has two “Rockefeller rugs” donated by the Rockefeller family, which are two large Persian rugs in the dining room and sitting room. Many of the interesting features in the manion are nods to historical trends and concerns.Ī marker just outside the front door was placed by the Arkansas Federation of Garden Clubs when it began landscaping in April of 1951. Because of a limited budget, the mansion’s size had to remain reasonable. Privacy was always an issue, as architect Ed Cromwell confirmed at the mansion’s 50th anniversary. The McMath family was large, and the mansion only had three bedrooms. When the Rockefellers came in, they did a lot of updating and refurbishing at that time.” The original budget for furnishings in 1950 was small, and not much maintenance had been done through the Faubus years. “Triple-hung windows, which were rare at the time, were installed. “The doors are extra-wide, so it’s very handicap-accessible,” Hutchinson said. She said the mansion has seen many updates and repairs through the years and that many first ladies have had to get creative with a small repair budget in order to fix things. It’s been an evolution ever since, bringing it up to date will electricity and plumbing through the 72 years it’s been here.” The people in the state have been so generous. “In a state that was agricultural, it was like a million-dollar home and really was a bright spot for the state. “In 1950 when the house was first occupied, to have a brick home… that was ritzy,” Hutchinson said. The School for the Blind remained on this property until 1939, when the current School for the Blind was built on Markham Street.” “The building of the School for the Blind, designed by Benjamin Bartlett, was the first project for Cromwell Architects, which would later build the Governor’s Mansion.
